Past Events

I will list past events here, those that occured between the hand on my shoulder (2004) at my sister-in-laws house and the beginning of this blog on July 31st, 2007.

 I can’t remember exact dates on this event, but my wife and I had swapped vehicles for a day and of course, also swapped vehicle keys. At the end of the day when we switched back, my wife handed me the ignition key to my van, but said she had lost the door key. She stated that she had put both keys on the end table and when she went to get them, the door key was gone. I had a spare so it wasn’t really a problem, but it was very curious.

Two weeks went by and the key was nowhere to be found. Then, one Saturday morning as I sat on the sofa drinking my coffee, a noise caught my attention and I turned to see that door key bounce up off the loveseat cushion and come to rest about where it landed when it bounced.

My wife had gotten up early and had gone to the Farmers Market with some of her sisters so I was the only one home. I have no idea where that key was for 2 weeks and why all of a sudden it bounced up off the loveseat cushion.

Sometime around July 2nd, my wife came home with a couple small pools for me to set up for our 4th of July family get together at my house. They were the blow up type so it took a bit of time to set up the compressor and get them blown up. Then some more time to fill them. It got dark before the first pool was full.

My wife and I, and a couple friends were sitting outside on the patio, and I got up to walk out into the backyard to check the water level of the first pool. It was full so I headed over to turn the water off and as I walked in that direction, something shoved me from behind. I almost fell. My wife and friends thought I simply stumbled and had a few giggles about it. I let them think what they would.

I don’t like to tell my wife about things like that because it scares her, and since she has never had any experiences like that, I assume that whatever it is that likes to taunt and tease me doesn’t affect her. I want to keep it that way.

==========================================================

The final edition to todays post reminded me of an event. It was maybe early or mid May, 2007, about 3:00 in the afternoon. I was sitting in my home office at the computer.

I heard the back door open and assumed that my wife had just gotten home. After a few seconds I realized that I had not heard the storm door open or close and I did not hear my wife’s daily greeting to the cat who meets her at the door. She always says, in a very high, catlike voice, “Hi silly!”

I got up to check things out and sure enough our back door had been opened, but my wife was not there. She doesn’t get home until after 5:00. The storm door however, was still locked, so the door was opened from the inside. I was the only one home and I was in the other room.
