Today, about 2:00 PM, I was getting some Christmas decorations out of the closet and we planned to start putting them out tonight. The closet has sliding doors. I had taken the boxes out and had been looking through some of the decorations. I then decided to make a sandwich before doing anything else.

As I was making the sandwich, right in front of me, I watched a roll of paper towels, which was standing up on the counter, slide about 6 inches from where it originally sat. I was about 2 feet from the roll when it happened.

About 2 minutes later, I heard the sliding closet door close by itself. I thought it might be the cat, but he was asleep…as usual.

Pretty active day so far.

I don’t know if I can stand this. Since last Sunday I’m afraid of my own bathroom. I can’t be in there without constantly thinking something is going to happen. The worst part is taking a shower and washing my face and hair, when I have to close my eyes.

I’ve seen objects move right in front of my eyes before, I’ve been the only person in the house when the back door opened by itself, I’ve been witness to many unexplainable things, but nothing has affected me like seeing this elderly woman in my bathroom. I’ve always been the brave one, the one who would go into the basement alone and take pictures and things like that. I’m telling you, this has scared the **** out of me.

For a few days, I thought we were going to have to move, no question about it. I’m still considering that, but have calmed down slightly since.

 FREAKIEST INCIDENT EVER!

Just less than a half an hour ago, I had the most unnerving incident that I’ve ever had in my life, and I’ve had a few. This one really freaked me out, probably because I’ve often thought how freaky this would be if it ever really happened.

The home we live in is over 100 years old and though someone put in some updated windows, probably in the 80’s, they still aren’t very energy efficient. For this reason, every winter I cover them with that shrink plastic that you heat with a blow dryer. It takes an entire day to do it but it does help to keep the old house warmer in the winter.

In our bathroom, there is a window right behind the toilet that is covered with this plastic. The bottom pane of glass is frosted so as to block the view from outside, but the top pane is clear. You can’t see a reflection in the bottom pane but you can in the top pane. Anyway, with the plastic over the window, you can plainly see the reflection of the bathroom behind you if you’re looking at the window.

I can’t think of a way to put this delicately, maybe because of my excitement or perhaps my lack of vocabulary, but at any rate, I was standing at the toilet, ‘doing my business’ and facing the window right behind the toilet. As is customary, I was looking down, attending to ‘my business’ and when I was finished, I raised my head and caught the image of an older, gray haired woman who appeared to be wearing a pink robe, walking out of the bathroom!

At first, it was almost like I was watching a movie or something, I mean, it just didn’t register. I was zipping and snapping my pants as I saw this woman walk out of the bathroom. I think I even looked back down to flush the toilet when suddenly, it hit me like a ton of bricks! I whirled around and ran out of the bathroom trying to find this ‘woman’, but of course there was nothing there.

I went to the living room and my wife was stretched out on the couch. I asked her if she was just in the bathroom and she said no. ( I knew it wasn’t my wife that I had seen. My wife has long black hair and doesn’t wear a robe. I just wanted to cover all the bases and rule out everything, I think.) I asked if she saw anything and she hadn’t. I had to tell her about this right away, though she didn’t seem interested in investigating the incident like I was. I’ve given up on trying to keep these things from her.

I have a video camera set up in the bathroom right now to see if I can catch this woman on video. I didn’t see her face, only the back of her head, and her back, almost down to her waist. I’m pretty sure I even looked away after I saw her because it just didn’t register at first.

I’ve thought from time to time how freaky it would be to be looking into a mirror and to see an apparition behind you like I’ve seen in some movies and just the thought of that has always given me chills. Though it wasn’t a mirror I was looking into, I can tell you that it was absolutely as freaky as I always thought it would be.

I did not have that ‘feeling’ that I wasn’t alone when this happened. It’s strange to me that sometimes, I can almost tell you when something is going to happen, and other times like tonight, I had no clue. I keep seeing that woman in my mind now. The whole episode keeps running through my mind and I keep seeing her walking out of the bathroom.

THAT was freaky folks. I’ve never, ever seen an apparition before and it has absolutely chilled me to the bone.

First of all, my apologies for posting the following happenings late. It’s been an incredibly busy month and I haven’t been able to find the time until now. At this point I don’t know the exact dates of these events but they were between my last post and now.

We had some people coming over to meet at our house and we were all going out to eat. While we were waiting for the last arrivals, we were sitting in the living room talking, having coffee and watching TV. There were maybe 6 or 7 people in the living room at this time. The volume on the TV was turned low and we were just talking. I could tell at this point that ’something’ was with us, but I said nothing about it. It’s very hard to explain how I know when we’re not alone. It’s like there is an energy in the air.

I had been looking around for any ‘disturbances‘ but hadn’t seen anything.

Suddenly, we all heard what sounded like someone playing with or crinkling a stiff plastic, and all conversation stopped! Imagine the kind of stiff, thick plastic wrapping that makes a lot of noise when you grab it. I asked each person there to show me where they thought the sound came from and everyone agreed that the sound came from the center of the living room, basically in the center of our group. We we’re all seated or standing along the walls. This was not a muffled sound, it was as loud and clear as any of our voices.

Some of the people present that evening had no idea about the other strange occurances here and were a bit uh…shaken by this sound. But it gets better!

Finally the last of our group arrived and we all got up to grab our jackets and head for the door. There was talking, shuffling around, people saying “Don’t forget your purse” and just the normal noises you would hear when this many folks were moving around. There came a point when the first person was getting ready to head out the door when we all heard a voice! There were a couple people that stated that it sounded like a moan or a growl, but the majority of people said they definitely heard a voice.

I heard a clear and distinct MALE voice say, “OK, have fun”. Actually, I can’t say that I heard the ‘O’ in OK, but I did hear “K, have fun”. Some others agreed that they heard “have fun” as well! One person thought they heard the word “kitchen”. We all agreed the voice sounded male. Now here’s the kicker. We were all in the kitchen at the time and the voice came from the living room! The same room where we heard the crinkling plastic just minutes earlier. Some of us walked into the living room to check it out, but we found nothing out of the ordinary.

We then searched the entire house and there was no one there. A couple of the ladies in the kitchen wanted no part of it, and stepped outside. Some were curious but wanted to stay in the kitchen with the bulk of the group. We all heard ’something’. Some of us heard a distinct voice!

I’ve experienced some things in this house that would make most people move out, like doors opening by themselves and such, but this night, for me, was by far the most exciting. I think it was because there were others present and I knew there was no way this event could be attributed to my imagination. It certainly made for some interesting dinner conversation!

A few days later, I heard the same crinkling plastic sound, coming from the same spot in the living room, I believe, but no voices afterward. I say, ‘I believe’ because I wasn’t in the living room at the time, I was in the office, off of the living room.

Sorry I’m posting this late.

It has been incredibly quiet since the last happening of the apparition in the garage. Until this morning, I had nothing to report. Why has that made me feel kind of sad? Strange.

Anyway, I carved my Halloween pumpkin to enter into our families annual pumpkin carving contest. This year, my pumpkin really turned out great. I’m usually not very good at this type of thing but this year I just might win! I’ve never won before and I think I have a really good chance this year.

So, this morning we have thunderstorms moving in and I went out to make sure the cord was unplugged because my pumpkin has an electric light in it. I ended up removing the cord all together and putting it in the garage and came back in, just in time to miss the rain.

When I came back in I left the back door open for the light because it’s a kind of dark and dreary day, but the storm door was closed so the rain wouldn’t blow in. I then came back into my office and carried on as before I went out to get the cord. As I’m sitting here reading and typing I hear a familiar ‘click’. It was the back door deadbolt!

I knew immediately what it was but remembered that I had left the door open. Not deadboltknowing what I would find when I went in there, I grabbed my camera and rushed to the kitchen. The door was still open, just as I had left it, but the deadbolt had been extended from the door. It had been turned to the locked position.

I know I didn’t do that, and I’m the only one here. Why would I have locked the deadbolt with the door open? I wouldn’t have. I heard it when it happened and I was in the office.

We had a garage sale a few weeks ago and since then, some of my wife’s sisters have been having a sale at our home on the weekends. They’ve had their sale here, for the last two weekends. This past Friday night, one of the sisters and her husband were here unloading and organizing some of their stuff, getting ready for Saturday.

The sister was inside and her husband was outside. She noticed a bag of clothes that she had brought for the sale, was inside the house. She grabbed the bag and took it to the back door to have her husband put it in the garage. When she got to the back door and looked out she said she saw a figure that she assumed was her husband, walk into the garage. She said the overhead door was open but the lights inside the garage were off. The sun had set and it was fairly dark at this time.

She opened the door and called her husbands name hoping he would come and get the bag, but he didn’t come. She then thought she would take the bag out and give it to him, so she did. When she got to the garage, she called her husband again but got no response. She called a few times and even said, “Don’t try to scare me.”

She stood there a few seconds then she heard a car door close towards the street end of our long driveway and turned to see her husband getting a box out of their car at the other end of the driveway and walking towards her and the garage. She dropped the bag of clothes where she stood and ran into the house.

She was really scared and told me that she saw someone walk into the garage and thought it was her husband, but it wasnt, and they were the only two outside. I ran out thinking someone had gone into the garage to steal something. I met her husband who was carrying the box to the garage and we went in to see who it was.

Our garage is two cars deep and I don’t know who thought this would be a good idea but the two light switches are halfway in. I walked in and turned the lights on and myself and my brother in law searched the garage and there was no one there. His wife swears she saw someone walk in to the garage.

On a side note, I’ve had that TV that turns on by itself in the garage sale for 3 weeks, priced at $20.00. It’s about a 32″ RCA color TV and it has worked perfectly out in the garage, until someone shows an interest in it, then suddenly you can’t turn it off or on with the power switch or the remote. I don’t think it wants to be sold. = )

The last week or so has been very quiet. I haven’t heard any footsteps at night and since I switched the TV in the bedroom with the one from the office, there have been no more instances of the TV turning on by itself. I have heard a couple strange noises during the night, but nothing like it used to be.

I’ve been wondering, the last time the TV turned on by itself, I got very angry. I got so angry that I yelled out loud, “Stop turning this TV on or I will kick your ass right out of this house! This is MY house!” Since then it’s been very quiet. Can you intimidate ghosts?

There was one incident so far today that happened right when I got home. There had been no one home all day so the doors and windows were closed and locked. I usually open the windows if it’s nice when I come in but I hadn’t had a chance to do that yet, when the pages on a legal pad on my desk started flipping up and back very quickly.

I wasn’t even in the office when it happened, I was in the living room looking into the office thinking I should turn on the computer. As soon as I stopped, turned and looked into the office the pages flipped up for no reason. It had to have been at least 12 pages and they flipped up one at a time but very quickly.

Again, all the windows and doors were closed, no fans were running and neither the heat or the air conditioning was turned on and I was the only one home.

The event I’m about to describe happened Monday, Sept. 24th about 2:00 PM.

I had taken a break and was watching the news. I sat on the sofa in the living room and the cat came up and sat next to me. He always curls up next to whoever sits on the sofa. As I sat there I suddenly felt a ‘jolt’ as if someone had kicked the sofa, but there was no sound along with this jolt.

The cat jumped up and stared at the floor in front of the sofa, at the left end. I was sitting on the right end. He stood there staring at the floor, then slowly started creeping toward that end of the sofa, very carefully as if he was ready to back up or bolt off the couch. He finally reached the other end of the sofa and was sniffing around and still watching the floor.

He then started pawing at something, or nothing, in front of the sofa. There was nothing there that I could see, but evidently he saw or felt something. He continued to paw at nothing in front of the sofa, then as if something suddenly happened, he lurched back and hissed towards the floor in front of the sofa.

He then jumped off the sofa, but the jump was strange also, it was as if he were jumping ‘over’ something. He jumped in a very high arch, hit the floor, ran to the other side of the room and turned and stared at that end of the sofa.

I didn’t see or feel anything but he wouldn’t take his eyes off of that end of the sofa. I did hear a noise, for a split second, that sounded like an insect buzzing but I saw nothing and this was broad daylight. Had it been an insect, surely I would have seen it.

The cat finally settled down and about an hour later I got him to come back up on the sofa as if nothing had happened.

WoW! What a weekend!

We’ve been planning to have a garage sale to clear out some of the junk in the garage so we started, last minute, getting everything ready. I didn’t want to have it THIS weekend because my wife’s birthday is Tuesday and her sister and I have had a birthday party scheduled for Saturday night, (last night) for a few weeks now.

I tried every excuse I could think of not to have the sale this weekend. Even stupid excuses, but my wife almost demanded we do it and get it over with while we had good weather for it. What could I do? I couldn’t get too ridiculous with my excuses for fear of tipping her off to the party. So Friday and Saturday we had the garage sale and it was a huge success! We got rid of tons of junk, cleaned out the garage and had fun doing it, but it was also a ton of work.

The party was scheduled for 5:00 PM Saturday. All day Saturday my wife’s sisters called trying to get her out of the house so some of us could put up the decorations and get everything ready. She wouldn’t budge. They actually had things planned to do to get her out, but she cancelled all her plans despite their pleading with her to go. I told her that I could handle the sale and to go with her sisters like she had planned. She wanted to stay for the sale. We finally got her out of the house at 4:15 PM and had 45 minutes to get EVERYTHING ready! The decorations, the food, the tables and chairs, AND load all the garage sale stuff that hadn’t sold, back into the garage.

I still can’t believe we pulled it off! We had her mother call and say she wanted to come over for awhile and could my wife come pick her up. They don’t live very far away so her mom had to stall her as long as she could. When she got back the garage sale was closed up, what little we had left to sell was back in the garage, and the party was ready. We all yelled Surprise! and she had no idea we had planned it.

So, needless to say I haven’t been paying much attention to the happenings in the house this weekend. As far as I know, the new TV in the bedroom has NOT turned on by itself. Until it does, I’ll have to assume it was all a faulty TV.

I did have a strange experience early this morning. As I was pouring my first cup of coffee, I heard footsteps behind me going into the bathroom, then a noise as if someone had dropped something in the bathroom. I assumed it was my wife who had just gotten up out of bed. After I poured my coffee and went to go look, there was no one there and nothing out of place in the bathroom.

The bathroom is off the kitchen, about 15 feet from where I was pouring my coffee, so there was absolutely no way it could have been my wife because she wouldn’t have had time to come back out before I went in to check things out. I then went to see if my wife was up and she was sleeping soundly.

That’s the first time I’ve heard footsteps in the house in the daytime. It’s always been at night before.

Last night, I had trouble sleeping again. We went to bed about midnight and at 2:00 AM I was still awake. As I lay there, I heard a familiar ‘twink’ sound. It was the TV turning on again. I didn’t move until the light from the TV lit up the bedroom. At that point I raised my head to look at the TV and the moment my eyes saw the TV, it turned off by itself.

I laid my head back down and tried to go to sleep but couldn’t. I WAS tired, I just couldn’t sleep. At about 2:30 AM the TV turned on again. Hoping it would turn itself back off, I raised my head again to look but it stayed on. I grabbed the remote and tried to turn it off but it wouldn’t turn off. I got up out of bed and hit the power button, but it didn’t go off. So I unplugged it, got back in bed and finally fell asleep. I plugged it back in about 4:00 PM today.

My wife picked up her mother and she stayed with us the entire day today. My wife took her home about 7:00 PM. While she was gone, I heard the bedroom TV come on again. I went in and again, it wouldn’t turn off with the remote or the power button. I reached over to unplug it and as I did, I had to position my head closely to our alarm clock radio…it was on too. Once I got close enough I heard it over the TV static. We’ve gotten up at the same time everyday for so long, we don’t set the alarm anymore.

I replaced the bedroom TV tonight with the TV from my office. I’ll upload a photo tomorrow to document the switch. I’m going to take that TV that was in the bedroom, out to the garage tomorrow and probably throw it into the dumpster at my sister-in-laws apartment complex. If the phenomena continues, there will be no doubt then.
